Oh Precious Family!

It’s always ok to take the time to visit family in person. Social media, phone calls and texting can never replace the physical touch of those we dearly love. So many nuances can be missed if we depend on the split second we glance at a photo taken with a phone. I want to have every detail I possibly can engraved in my mind of the people I love and now miss. I am thankful Robynn’s parents are in good health.

It is interesting that the planning of the annual trip to Texas is always different than the reality once we are underway. There are thousands of variables I just cannot prepare for. The ability to be flexible and make small adjustments is absolutely necessary when embarking upon such a distant journey. Besides the weather pushing us around….there were other challenges we didn’t prepare for. For example, the difficulty sleeping when a wedding party is next door celebrating and celebrating and celebrating…well you get the picture! Even the bed and pillows aren’t just right to the point a pillow purchase is necessary as an act of emergency in order to get an extra 30 minutes of sleep the following night. All of these difficulties fade away once we lay eyes on our loved ones and embrace them for the first time in a year. The trip home seems short. It is never enough time, but it’s the time God gifted us to have once again this year. And thankful we are for His abundance. Family……oh how I love family!
